Fresh Snowfall in Gulmarg, Rain in Plains

SRINAGAR: The ski-resort of Gulmarg and other heights in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall, while rains lashed the plains bringing down the temperature steeply.

Heights surrounding Srinagar city had also turned white due to snowfall, clearly visible from Budshah Chowk and Dal Lake.

Moderate to heavy snowfall affected normal life in far-flung and remote areas, particularly in the border areas in north Kashmir.

The weather office has forecast a dry and pleasant weather during the next six days.

The minimum temperatures are likely to rise during the next six days which would be comparatively warmer.

Sonam Lotus, director of the weather office here, said: “From tomorrow till Nov 5, the weather would remain dry and pleasant in the valley, although mornings and evenings would be cold.”

“The night temperatures will not fall further during this period.”

The minimum temperature was 4.8 degrees Celsius in Srinagar on Thursday, while it was 1.4 in Pahalgam, minus 0.2 in Gulmarg, 2.0 in Kargil and minus 1.8 degrees Celsius in Leh town of Ladakh region.

The minimum temperature was 16.6 degrees Celsius in Jammu city in the southern region of the state Thursday.

Lotus said the minimum temperatures are likely to rise during the next six days which would be comparatively warmer.
