BOSE Constitutes Expert Committee to Probe
GANDERBAL: A dejected 12th class student has allegedly committed suicide after appearing in the Mathematics exam amid complaints that the question papers was tough.
Following protests by angry students, the education department has set up a committee to probe complaints that questions in the paper were “out of syllabus”.
Family and relatives of Irshad Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Sehpora in Ganderbal district, have alleged that he consumed poison as he was perturbed after the exam.
“He told us that the paper was out of syllabus and he wanted to die,” Reyaz Ahmed, a relative said.
However, police said they are still waiting for the post mortem report to determine the exact cause of Mr Bhat’s death.
Pertinently, hundreds of class 12 students staged protest on Monday alleging that the Mathematics paper was twisted and out of syllabus.
Secretary to Board of School Education, Renu Goswami said an expert committee has been constituted to probe the matter and the committee has been directed to submit its report in three days.
“If it is proved that paper has been twisted, then certainly paper setter would face the music. Last year, one of the paper setter was suspended in this connection,” Ms Goswami said.
Joint Secretary Examination, BOSE, Mehboob Hussain said he was shocked to learn about the death of the student. “My sympathies are with family and I assure all the students that after seeking opinion from experts, a proper decision would be taken in this regard,” he said.
