SRINAGAR: A worker of the ruling National Conference in north Kashmir has accused a senior opposition leader and former forest minister of “making my life hell”.
Abdul Majid Bania, a resident of Ganderbal district – the constituency of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah – said Qazi Mohammed Afzal and his body guards often beat up him and his family members.
He also accused Mr Afzal of playing “key role in implicating me in a false case.”
“There is a dispute between my family and the security guard of the former Minister. The security guard Muzamil Shah on the behest of Qazi Afzal frequently raids my house and threatens us of dire consequences. Shah is always accompanied by other security guards of Qazi Afzal,” Mr Bania said.
The NC worker said he approached senior leaders of his party but in vain.
Mr Afzal said Mr Bania’s son had “abducted the daughter of my ‘favourite Personal Security Officer'”. “I did not do anything. It was police who arrested his son after recovering the girl from his son’s possession,” he told a local news agency CNS.
The news agency quoted a police officer as saying that Mr Bania’s son was in judicial custody on charge of abducting a 13-year-old girl.
“There is a case registered against the father and son in police station Lar. Police has done its job as per law,” he said.
