Bijbehara Massacre Remembered, Town Shuts Down

SRINAGAR: A shutdown is being observed in Bijbehara town of south Kashmir to remember scores of Muslims shot dead by Indian paramilitaries on this day 20 years ago.

Shops are closed and traffic has been affected.

A prayer meeting was held at the graveyard where the slain people are buried.

The victims were among thousands of people who marched on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway to protest against the siege of Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar.
