SRINAGAR: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed concern over the denial of travel documents to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik who wanted to visit Pakistan to see his daughter and wife.
In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said the denial by the Union Government goes against the humanitarian policy of granting permission to a father to visit his daughter.
Mr Raina demanded immediate roll back of the order so that Mr Malik visits Pakistan and sees his daughter and wife.
‘There was no need to attach political connotation to the proposed visit of JKLF Chairman which was purely a human one.
Mr Malik wanted to see his daughter and wife and should have been allowed to do so, Mr Raina said. He said on humanitarian grounds the Union Government should have allowed Mr Malik to go ahead with the visit.
Sikhs of J&K, particularly in Kashmir, are concerned about this development, Mr Raina said, adding this has sent wrong signal about the Centre’s policy towards people who have long ago said goodbye to armed struggle.
He said New Delhi can still make up in this regard by allowing the JKLF chairman to visit Pakistan.
“The Government has been harping a lot about rehabilitation policy of the people who wish to come back from Pakistan. But at the same time denying a father to visit his daughter goes opposite to the broader contours of this policy.”
“As such, it is important that Mr Malik is allowed to meet his daughter and wife,” said Mr Raina.
