JAMMU: Milk supply to the winter capital remained affected today as Gujjars strike against high headedness of the police and the harassment by the Jammu Municipal Corporation continued for the second consecutive day here.
Gujjars under the banner of ‘Dodhi Gujjars Association,’ yesterday went on indefinite strike demanding release of seven members of the community, who were arrested on October 5 by the police for thrashing the JMC officials testing the quality of the milk.
”We will not supply the milk unless government meets our demands of hiking the rates of milk and release of seven members of the community,” a gujjar leader said.
He said no action is being taken against the shopkeepers selling adulterated milk after buying it from the gujjars.
Gujjars, however, yesterday also held protest demonstrations and disrupted the traffic for hours. Meanwhile people are forced to purchase packets of milk from general stores to meet their daily needs
