Even Soz Enjoys Army, IB Support: Kashmir’s NC

‘Ghulam Hassan Mir ‘yes-man’ of Indian Army’

SRINAGAR: Terming the Intelligence Bureau and Army as “avowed” enemies of Kashmir, a senior leader of the ruling National Conference party has said minister Ghulam Hassan Mir was their “yes-man”.

Mustafa Kamal, the NC’s additional General Secretary, told a local news agency, CNS, that “Mir has no conscience and he has become the sycophant of India Army. It was known to us but the latest report which exposed Ghulam Hassan Mir has vindicated our stand.”

“It is not only Mir, but also State Congress president Saif-u-Din Soz who is enjoying the backing of Army and Intelligence Bureau.”

Mr Kamal has alleged that the army was working was working on a plan “to weaken the constitutional and legal position of the state” so as to “enslave people of Jammu and Kashmir”.

Mir was a party to the plan, he said.

Mr Kamal said it was the Army that played a “key role” in keeping National Conference away from power in 2002.

“It was the courtesy of Army and IB that our party strength came down from 50 to 28 seats,” he said.

Ghulam Hassan Mir has denied the report that he connived with the army to dethrone Omar Addullah. Soz could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
