Disabled Protest in Kashmir’s Winter Capital Over Sexual Abuse

JAMMU: Hundreds of physically disabled children today seeking action against those involved in sexual abuse of mentally challenged girls today took out a protest rally in this winter capital of the state.

Carrying banners and placards, children demanded severe punishment to the culprits responsible for sexual exploitation of mentally challenged girls in the Rotary Inner Wheel Home for Mentally Retarded Girls in Channi Rama area of this winter capital.

Amid slogans, the physically disabled protestors demanded capital punishment to the culprits. “Besides capital punishment, we also demand CBI probe into the matter,” a young protestor said.

“The gruesome incident could not be tolerated,” Roshan Bhan, patron, Association of Parents of Hearing Disabled told reporters.

He alleged that as per medical report the girls were being raped since last three years and how could it be possible that social organizations running the Home were clueless about it.

“A high level judicial probe should be carried out into the matter to bring the faces involved in this heinous and barbaric crime into light so they could be punished,” he said adding nothing less than capital punishment would be acceptable.
