Zubin’s Show ‘Blessing in Disguise’ For Kashmiri Separatists

SRINAGAR: Separatists in Kashmir say the Zubin Mehta concert, which they have opposed fearing it would be touted as normalcy in conflict-ridden valley, is actually proving to be a “blessing in disguise” for them.

International media crews have landed in Srinagar ahead of the concert and are seen busy visiting these leaders for comments.

Spokesman of the Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani said Geelani had a detailed conversation with the journalists and presented the facts about Kashmir “in an eloquent way.”

“The ball thrown to the wall by India is coming back to them in rebound form,” said Ayaz Akbar to a local news agency, CNS.

He also said that most of the journalists were shocked to learn about the Geelani’s continuous house detention.

Akbar said India had “misled” the International media about Kashmir situation while Geelani made them aware about the realities of the valley.

Most of the reporters after the interview session were of the view that Zubin Mehta’s concert would prove a blessing in disguise for Kashmiri Movement, he added.

“One of the reporters in fact said that Kashmir has once again been in lime light due to this musical concert.”
