SRINAGAR: The sleuths of Income Tax Department today raided seven shops and residence of famous jewellers in this winter capital of the state.
“The IT sleuths conducted surprise raids this morning at seven jewellery shops and their owners residences, who were evading tax,” an official here said.
The team accompanied by police contingents raided their premises and seized all the records and valuable assets to ascertain the tax evasion.
The raids were conducted at Kanya Jewellers, Krishan Jewellers, Roshan Lal Jewellers, Talla Jewellers, Vijay Sarad Jewellers, Silver Line Jewellers and Raman Suri Jewellers.
“The raids are in progress, while the Lakhadatta and Jain Bazar, which are famous for Jewellery observed shut down in view of income tax raids,” he added.
