SRINAGAR: Reacting sharply to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that New Delhi treated Kashmiris differently, senior separatist, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the state government was equally to blame for the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz, who head the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference, said he holds both India and the pro-India political parties in Kashmir, including National Conference, responsible for political and economical exploitation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister Abdullah belongs to the National Conference.
“The state government can’t be forgiven for what it has done to Kashmiris just for the sake of power,” Mirwaiz said.
“They can’t hide their crimes by blaming Delhi for differential treatment to Kashmiris, they have connived with Delhi for their petty interests right from beginning (sic).”
The Hurriyat Chairman said that since 1947, the pro-India political parties of Kashmir were responsible for “paralyzing” the economy and politics of Kashmiris.
“These people are responsible for usurping the special status and rights granted to the state of jammu and Kashmir.”
He said that it was pro-India parties of Kashmir which brought the Indian army to “suppress the Kashmiri voice for freedom”.
They are the same people who created infamous task force and Ikhwanis (renegades), he added.
