SRINAGAR: Police say they have rescued five young trekkers who were trapped in a glacier at Kounsarnag in south Kashmir.
Station House Officer of Damhaal Hanjipora, Muhammad Shafi told FreePress that the five youth had trekked to a glacier which broke off all of a sudden.
“They were trapped in the middle,” he said.
Shafi said that a rescue chopper was immediately sent to the site of the mishap after the police was informed.
“Actually there were six people, one of them was little slow and reached after them. It was he who had contacted someone and we came to know.”
The youth belong to various parts of the valley including Srinagar and Pulwama. They Are: Adil S/o Mushtaq Ahmed, Salman Riaz S/o Riaz Ahmed R/o Barbarshah, Fahad Hafiz S/o Abdul Rashid, Munib S/o Vikar Ahmed Khan and Amir S/o SarfarazHussain.
