SRINAGAR: Life was paralysed today in Anantnag town of south Kashmir due to a complete strike against the continuous arrest of the chief cleric of the region.
Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir has been held by the police for the last two weeks.
He suffered a heart attack in police custody yesterday and has been admitted in a hospital.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was affected, witnesses said.
The Mirwaiz’s supporters had also clashed with security forces during a protest demonstration after the Friday prayers yesterday.
