SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s octogenarian separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said he will not accept any solution forced by India or Pakistan, both of which rule the region in parts.
Geelani, who heads the hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, said he will continue fighting for the disputed region’s right to self determination.
This he told David Hamilton, first secretary for political and economical affairs in Canadian High Commission in Delhi, during a meeting at the latter’s residence in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kashmir has been the bone of contention between India and Pakistan for more than six decades now. It has been the cause of two of the three wars between the two south Asian nuclear rivals.
On the possibility of the involvement of Taliban factor in Kashmir after the US pull out from Afghanistan, Geelani categorically rejected it saying that there is no role for Taliban in Kashmir.
