SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to setup a panel to fix the fee structure of private schools in the state.
“The matter has been taken up with Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to constitute a committee headed by a High Court Judge (Retired) in pursuance of Supreme Court judgement”, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said, according to PTI.
Chand, who also holds the education portfolio, underlined the importance of regulating the fee structure in private education institutes ‘rationally’. “The issue would be resolved soon,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said efforts were being made to improve the education scenario of the state and suggested to fine tune the department with modern day requirements.
To improve performance of the students, Chand said, government-run schools will now have frequent parent-teacher meetings.
“The parent-teacher meet should now be made regular feature and monthly sessions should be held to promote two way feedback and bring to fore new issues which can improve performance of the students”, Chand said in a function on Annual Lecturers’ Day in Jammu.
Assuring full support to the genuine issues of those involved in noble profession of education, Tara Chand said: “The sector is priority area of the government and all out efforts are underway to take the department to new heights by addressing infrastructure as well as staff requirements.”
