Curfew to Continue in Parts of Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Curfew will continue in parts of the capital Srinagar on Saturday, authorities say.

This has been decided in view of the “Chaharum” or the fourth day of mourning for Altaf Ahmed Wani who was shot dead by CRPF personnel at Saidapora area of suburban Srinagar on Wednesday.

An indefinite curfew was imposed in almost the entire valley on Thursday after Wani was killed.

Officials have told freepresskashmir.com that the curfew will continue in five police station areas of downtown Srinagar and also parts of Maisuma and Kralkhud police station areas.

Muslims in Kashmir gather at the graveyards on the Chaharum of their deceased and offer prayers for them.

Altaf Ahmed Wani’s killing has caused deep shock and anger in Kashmir, and authorities fear violent anti-India protests again on Saturday.

Meanwhile the University of Kashmir has postponed all examinations scheduled for tommorow.
