SRINAGAR: The state cabinet has approved the appointment of Iqbal Khandey as new Chief Secretary this morning.
A 1978 batch IAS officer of J & K cadre Khanday will replace Madhav Lal who is proceeding to Delhi to take over as Secretary in Government of India. Khandey will take over his new assignment in next couple of hours.
