SRINAGAR: A police officer has been killed after a bullet fired from his own gun hit him in the head, the police say.
Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalamabad police station in north Kashmir’s Handwara died at around 8 – 8:30 am this morning at the police station premises.
It is not clear whether he committed suicide or his gun fired accidentally, SP Handwara, Chowdhary Aslam said.
“We are waiting for the post mortem and forensics report,” he said.
Meanwhile investigations into the incident have begun.
