Kashmir kidnappers renew hostage death threat

SRINAGAR, Feb 9 (1995)- Kashmiri separatists released a photograph Wednesday of five Westerners they are holding hostage and said they will kill the captives if soldiers continue searching for them.

“If the government advances, it will be responsible for the consequences,” said a note delivered to the office of the British Broadcasting Corp. in Srinagar.

A guerrilla group, Al-Faran, has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings and says it is holding one American, two Britons, one German and a Norwegian.

“If our demands are not met by July 15, we shall kill them,” the note said.

The separatists have demanded the release of 21 jailed guerrillas.
