SRINAGAR, Aug 5: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has reiterated his country’s commitment that it shall continue to extend moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for right of self-determination, the country’s media reported.
He was talking to former Prime Minister of Pakistan administered Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Saturday.
The comments come days after India allowed Foreign Direct Investment from Pakistan and also gave a green signal for two of its banks to operate in the country to give a push to their renewed efforts for peace.
Many, including separatists in Kashmir, have warned Pakistan against shelving its support in view of growing economic ties between the two neigbours who have fought three wars over the disputed Himalayan region in a little more than sixty years.
Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, however, thanked the Government of Pakistan for its “continuous support to Kashmir cause”.
