SRINAGAR: Ninety-nine magisterial probes were ordered and ten commissions of inquiries constituted since 1990 to investigate into various killings, the government said on Friday.
An armed conflict between separatist militants and security forces began in 1989. Tens of thousands of people have died since then.
Law Minister Mir Saifullah told the legislative assembly in Jammu that out of 99 magisterial inquiries ordered 81 had been finalised. Eighteen inquiries were still going on, he said.
The minister, however, said the 10 commission of inquiries had been completed.
He added that the information regarding action taken on the recommendations of the commissions and magisterial inquiries is still awaited from the Home Department.
