SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Atleast nine passengers have died and many others injured when an overloaded bus overturned in the hilly area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said the bus was on its way from Rajouri to Haryana when it overturned at around near Budhi Morh in Kandi area of Budhal tehsil.
Eight persons died on the spot, while another person succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, they said. Dozens of passengers have also been injured and have been shifted to hospitals for medical help.
Army and policemen rushed to the spot to conduct rescue operations.
The mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir are prone to accidents with overloaded passenger buses in poor conditions often claiming many lives in the region.
