SRINAGAR: Four separatist leaders, including chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, were taken to custody at Pampore in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, break away Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained under house arrest for the past more then six months.
Official sources said Mr Shah and three other separatist leaders Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, and Mohammad Yousuf Naqash were on way to Bijbehara in Anantnag district when they were stopped by police at Pampore.
All the four separatist were taken into preventive custody.
Sources said it was a preventive measure to avoid any law and order problem.
On this day 43 people were killed in security force firing at Bijbehara in 1993.
