SRINAGAR: A 22-year-old woman, who was allegedly kidnapped last week, was found dead in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, police said on Monday.
The body of the woman was fished out from a stream in village Galbugh near Kakpora this morning, a police officer told freepress.
The woman’s father had lodged a complaint with the police on April 10 alleging that she had been abducted by a man named Mohammad Yaqoob Rather.
“Investigations revealed that Rather would blackmail the woman and somehow managed to bring her to a place where he strangulated her to death with her scarf,” the officer said.
He said Rather led them to the stream where he had thrown the woman’s body. The man has been arrested.
Further investigations are on, the officer said.
